People are brainwashed into simplistic thinking: Eat fat, be fat and die.
No, No, No…
Fact: Fats are fabulous and healthy in so many ways. Fat supports healthy hormones, brain, nerve and eye development and bowel health. It assists in the absorption of fat soluble vitamins A,D,E,K and much more.
In “Circulation Research (2012, 110:764-776)” published by the American Heart Association, Stanley et al., describes the positive results of substituting refined carbs with all types of fat (saturated, monounsaturated, n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids), not just omega-3’s. According to this study It seems a steak may be healthier than a non-fat vegetarian plate of pasta.
The report is titled, “Dietary Fat and Heart Failure: Moving From Lipotoxicity to Lipoprotection” and it explains that when refined carbohydrates were replaced with fat good things happen to the heart membrane and dangerous inflammation was reduced, therefore:
1. “it protected the heart from ventricular expansion and contractile dysfunction in response to hypertension, infarction, or genetic* cardiomyopathy.”
* Just wanted to make sure you read this…protection against genetic cardiomyopathy.
2.” reduced the onset of new heart failure, and slowed the progression of established heart failure. ”
So Mr. Morgan, Ms. Jane Valez Mitchell if you want some schooling on nutrition. I’m here for you and anyone else who is willing to put aside their own prejudice and talk “nutrition without boundaries”.
