Can I Have Seconds Helpings?

Happy Mother’s Day!
I promised a blog on low carb diets and genetics and will deliver but wanted to put this “quickie” out first.
There are some foods that you or your kids always take a second helping. For example, can you remember when the last time you had 1 slice of 1/2 cup of pasta? It’s easy to go for seconds without batting an eye.
The next time you go for the second helping of one of these foods ask yourself if you need seconds before you have had firsts of a lower calorie and much more healthy food like
Balancing food choices will help balance your weight. Before you sit down to a huge plate of pasta and then head for the pot to get more, shrink the portion of pasta and add a large salad and a few meatballs. If you balance what you eat, your body will not crave more pasta because the salad and meatballs will add to the nutrition you feed your body and to the fullness factor.
Eating a variety of foods will always be better than sitting down to the table with just a large bowl of cereal, a bagel or even two hamburgers without the bun. Make these food choices complete by adding colorful accompaniments (fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, dairy).
So avoid seconds while enjoying more flavor when you eat a wide array of foods!
