Trading Convenience for Health?

Technology makes our lives easier but would you trade convenience for health? I’m talking, cancer(brain & salivary gland tumors, prostate, breast and colon cancer, and leukemia), low sperm quality, birth defects, miscarriages, chronic fatigue, headaches, cataracts, heart problems, stress, nausea, forgetfulness…
Cell phones, televisions, microwave ovens, computers, electric clocks, dental and medical x-rays, CT scans, power lines, home wiring and the soil on which your home or workplace is built, airports and air travel, military radar, substations, transformers, computers and appliances, fluorescent light bulbs, electric blankets and heating pads, water heaters inside water beds and believe it or not motorcycles all give off electromagnetic field radiation (EMF). The definition of EMF can be read at http://epa.gov/radtown/basic.html#what and is explained as “invisible lines of force that surround any electrical device that is plugged in and turned on.”
While there may or may not appear to be supporting evidence linking radiation and poor health depending on which side of the debate you choose to believe, you must at least admit that although evidence is inconclusive there are still questions and possibilities of harm. If you want to wait for conclusive evidence to believe there may be harm, go right ahead and stand in line with the rest of the other sitting ducks.
I prefer to tread cautiously and do what I can to reduce any possible harmful affects that technology may incur on my health. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) provides information on this topic and states, “Based on studies about the incidence of childhood leukemia involving a large number of households, NIEHS found that power line magnetic fields are a possible cause of cancer”. If you go to their site, http://epa.gov/radtown/power-lines.html, you will see a box on the right hand side entitled “RadTown USA Topics”. It’s worth a quick review.
Need to know info:
1. Buy an EMF detector http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMF_meter
2. Try to get no more than .5mG’s of total exposure/day
3. Wear a scientifically validated EMF protection device, there are options, http://www.emf-health.com, www.cellphone-health.com, especially for those of us sitting in front of a computer all day
4. Distance can help avoid overexposure, so do not stand in front of a microwave oven or television set and certainly do not use an electric blanket (as you relax or sleep under the covers EMF’s are seeping at least ½ an inch skin deep), arrange clocks and phone bases away from sleeping areas and for g-d sakes do not keep cell phones in a bra or pocket near your reproductive/sex organs
5. Pull the plug on appliances, computers etc… when not in use
6. Use ionizers in the home/workplace
Blackberry and Cell Phone Use tips:
A must read article on the helpful hints to avoid radiation exposure, http://www.emf-health.com/articles-10tips.htm
1. Purchase a device with a low SAR (Specific Absorption Rate is the amount of radiation passed from the device to your body).
2. Try to limit calls and only allow children/adolescents to use the phone in an emergency
3. Use an air tube (vs. wired) headset instead of holding the phone to your ear
4. Minimize use of cell phones/blackberries in cars, aside from it being against the law, the metal traps radiation and reflects it back to you
